Yesterday I managed to suk playing with a 40'' screen and on a couch. My mouse was on the hand rest and keyboard on my lap so I thought how could I make this better. Not sure if this will do the job but at least it will be fun.

So far I've managed to connect wii controller to Ubuntu and use it as a mouse. Currently I'm creating settings for it to be able to play. I'll update this post as I manage to get things working
[UPDATE]
I think that in QL during game the mouse pointer stays at top left corner. I was able to use the script properly in desktop (both accelerometer mouse and IR mouse with candle) but in QL I only managed to look down & spin to right or stop the spinning. The script says where the controller is while mouse says what direction to go to.
Maybe different in_mouse might help..
Was thinking that I can use turn left / right & look up / down and play like that but after that I realized, I could use ps3 controller for that. Going to test it later (tomorrow or 1+week).
[/UPDATE]
If you're interested using wii mote with your computer, you need to have bluetooth and for windows I recommend glovepie and linux Xwii. Glovepie and Xwii are programs that let you configure the wii controller.
Old version of Xwii (didn't get the new one to work, but this did)

New version of Xwii (wiimote didn't connect while using this)

For ps3 sixaxis controller on Linux, I used QtSixA. Couldn't connect the sixaxis through bluetooth but a cable worked well. I liked this program more than Xwii since it had a nice GUI (=graphical user interface).
Relatively easy to use GUI program, QtSixA
