kotc2 is runing to its end so heres a huge poll vote for you 5 fav maps for next tourney i would like to see maps we havent used in the previous tourneys in next pool but of cours it doesnt have to be a totaly new pool. some new maps are a must tho! last kothc went reeeaaallllyy slooooowwwwwso my idea is to run next one a little bit faster. My idea is to have scedualed days for the matches and if you dont show up you lose by walkover. this way we could have the tourney played over just a couple of days. and if we're lucky enough kanzo or feral might be unavalibe on these scedualed dates im not sure if this is ideal tho? i dont want this to be too serious after all. other than that i think these tourneys worked out well. if you have sugestions please post them here.

and what is current mappool, btw? Speaking of schedule, my guess is, we should schedule a day for a tournament itself. Register players right before the games begin. If you're on irc in time, and you're willing to play - you're in. This way we can play first couple of rounds on first day alone, cuz everyone is here and ready. P.S.: since 'hektik' isn't proper word in the first place, feel free to mutilate it any way you like P.S.2: can't you edit own poll? I CAN EDIT WTF I WANT! im just too lazy /martin

Yeah, that's pretty much it. Like basic concept. 1) Arrange a day. Let in only ppl who shows up on this day. 2) Play as much as possible while everyone there. 3) Let players arrange remaining matches themselves. this could work. problem with last tournament was that some people signed up and didnt even show up for their first matches. and with everyone playing their first game at the same time its easy to get your second games played right after the first becous your next opponent will be online anyway. speaking of no-show problem, i guess we can go Clanbase way here, and set restricted periods while matches have to be played - like one week for each match.

The first KotC worked well, cos it was small and everyone was online all the time. The second one took forever cos it was big and a lot of people went AWOL. So this is how it's going to work. We'll pick two days a week (e.g. Monday and Thursday ?) when all matches for a given round are to be played. In the early rounds when there are a lot of matches going on, we'll have 1 round per week. I think we'll try to get the quarters, semis and final done in a single week. Exact match times and dates to be arranged on irc. If both parties agree games can be played at any time in the week, but all matches in a given round MUST be completed in that round's week. If that proves to be impossible, the judges (that's me and martin btw) will decide who has forfeited the match and who goes through. I think we need to sort out some kind of seeding too (Challonge supports that doesn't it martin ?). Ideally we want the top half of the draw to consist of the best players after the first couple of rounds, and the bottom half to consist of people like me KotC is too awesome to get out of the way on a single day (it's got a trophy donchaknow ) or to drag on for months. Be nice if the map pool mostly includes new maps. ztn and DM6 are fine duel maps, but KoTC has a history (!) of using maps that are new to QL... We really ought to avoid maps that have been in the last KotC I think (so no to Hektik, Phrantic, Lost World, Fatal and Concrete Palace) Still, let the polls decide.

the last tournaments brackets have been totaly random. but you can manage them in any way you want. that will be more work for me tho and with a dual elimination bracket it doesnt really matter antway, youll still have a second chance anyway. i like nitros arrangements better btw. i dont want people that allready is in the tourney to get kicked out. but to be in the tourney you must show up at the set date... its still a fun tourney and noone should be forced to play the matches. i dont have a problem with the tournament taking a month or two to complete i really want this to be as casual as possibel

We certainly need some sort of time limits or KotC3 could take as long as the second one, though personally I would prefer that there is a certain time within which you need to play the match rather than a fixed date, eg. first matches within two weeks, later ones in one week.
Seeing still-not-played-in-KotC (especially premium) maps would be nice. Dismemberment, Battleforged and Gothic Rage come to mind. :3
EDIT: House of Decay and Almost Lost from regular maps would be decent candidates.

I think we need to sort out some kind of seeding too That shouldn't be hard to do, since we now know relative skill of everyone active. We'll get on to that once signups are known. hey, feral, we certainly want to see the final

I can help sort out the seeding martin - shouldn't be too hard to draw up a rough ranking. The idea really is to avoid getting kanzo vs Feral (for example) in the first round. If there's no enthusiasm for setting regular dates for it, we do need to find some way to make sure matches happen. I didn't enjoy forfeiting people last time - not a nice feeling . feralfoxes idea of 2 weeks for the first round, then a week thereafter works for me.

I'd prefer minimum of 1 games / 2 weeks. I have some skiing holidays planned so would not be able to play every week. 2 weeks from the player who played the last game would be the best I think. And Focal Point + Canned Heat ftw!
