Posting here for Doc since he was at work at the time posted on IRC. It is a bit NSFW since it has a few revealing video game private parts.www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=dXtSOsoEOC8A video that speaks of, and points out, some of the issues that exist between guys and girls in online gaming. It touches nicely upon why girls often choose to hide their real gender when playing, why we sometimes are put off by certain games, and why many guys still cling to the belief that girls don't play games. It's a very reaffirming video for me, and I think it might be interesting for the guys to watch as well, as it might even provide some insight into what your fellow girl gamers are subjected to, and have to deal with, in online gaming. That said, still ♥ you all here for not being part of the many 'jerkwads' that infest the online community

I only know of 3 girl gamers. Anyway I'm not at all surprised that some do not disclose they are female. Because last year playing CoD (sorry ) a female player came online on xbox live and all she said was "Hi folks." And it was like bait to the wolves. Everything from sexist remarks, sexual comments and abusive messaging and comments. It tended to be the younger players that were the most foul, but even players who were older still felt the need to make a comment. Mod showed up and banned a few people, including the female because she called one of the guys a sexist prick because he blamed her his mate got banned. Go figure. Not seen too much happen in QL as yet. But then I only know of 3 female players in QL. My opinion is that more female players = a bigger community which in turn = more fun

It was a good video.. But she talked against her self by speaking too fast and not clearly enough.
She needed to simplify and clarify more and make a shorter video. I lost my attention span.
On that note.. I'm 58 years old, male and have never thought or worried about the age or sex of a player.
Drunk Clans first Clan Officer was a female== Lethana== She set up the drunk #IRC and helped build up the base for what is now over 230 members.
Drunk Clan salutes all Female gamers!
I'd like to see more Female Gamers in QL.. I know of about 8, rather sad, I think..

She has some good points, but her awful dictation makes it almost unwatchable.
Generally speaking I think highly competitive games like QL that concentrate on "pwning" and mechanical mastery are more interesting to men than female, but I'm sure there are exceptions to this.

Gah ! Teenagers !
Ooo Zaxxxon !
Not sure that FPS overload is ever going to go away. Teenagers (of all ages) are always going to want to shoot stuff, but she had some good arguments. Some not so strong, but overall it was very interesting.
Her most powerful point (to me) was that FPSes aren't marketed to women. Play Zumba Fitness ! It would be interesting to know how Chllly (and drunk) women got into playing QL. Both my kids love playing games, whether they're on the Wii or flash games on the PC and I'll certainly introduce them both to QL when they get a little older.
It's a little sad that she's pleased that developers are bringing out more 'games for girls'. Good games, like good films or books appeal to everyone. If the cinema consisted of nothing but chick flicks and Transformers movies, I'd never go.
I know quite a few female quakers and half of our D&D group is female. Interestingly most of them were initially suspicious of something they saw as chicks in chainmail bikinis and stupid swordfighting, before realising that there was more to it than that.
